Pacers hand Celtics first loss, 95-79 (AP)

The Boston Celtics weren’t in the mood to celebrate their latest accomplishment. Playing without injured starters Kevin Garnett and Kendrick Perkins, the Celtics became the first team in the NBA to reach 40 wins with a 104-97 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night. Boston (40-9), which finished last season with a 24-58 record, plans to save any celebrations for the postseason.
