New Cowboys home for 2010 All-Star Game (AP)

NBA Commissioner David Stern says the Dallas Cowboys new stadium in Arlington will host the 2010 NBA All-Star Game. Stern announced the plans Thursday in a ceremony outside the American Airlines Center near downtown Dallas, where the Dallas Mavericks play. Mavs owner Mark Cuban and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones also attended the ceremony.

Nets exercise options on 3 players (AP)

The New Jersey Nets exercised a fourth-year contract option on center Josh Boone and third-year options on forwards Sean Williams and Yi Jianlian on Thursday. The Nets also declined to pick up the fourth-year option on guard Maurice Ager. Boone, Williams and Yi are now signed through the end of next season.

Pistons’ Maxiell agrees to 4 years, $20M (AP)

The Detroit Pistons took another step toward ensuring they will have players to replace their aging frontcourt. The Pistons and Jason Maxiell agreed on a $20 million, four-year contract extension, a basketball official told The Associated Press on Thursday on the condition of anonymity because the deal had not been signed.

LeBron, Jay-Z host concert for Obama (AP)

On his home court, LeBron James tried to swing some votes toward a guy who loves to play basketball nearly as much as he does. The NBA superstar hosted a free concert Wednesday night by Grammy-winning hip hop star Jay-Z for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, a former high school hoop star who still enjoys lacing up his sneakers and playing ball when he isn’t on the campaign trail.
