Paul Pierce scored 22 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Boston Celtics to a 94-87 comeback win over the Toronto Raptors on Monday night. Kevin Garnett added 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Ray Allen had 19 points for the Celtics (7-1). Boston scored 58 points in the second half after getting just 36 in the opening 24 minutes.
Sacramento Kings guard Kevin Martin will miss at least a week after spraining his left ankle in a victory over Golden State on Sunday night. Martin is the NBA’s 11th-leading scorer at 22.4 points per game. He had 27 points against the Warriors when he injured his ankle when he fouled on a drive. The Kings said Monday that Martin will be sidelined 7-10 days.
New Jersey guard Devin Harris and Miami forward Shawn Marion both were held out of Monday’s Nets-Heat game with injuries. Harris has battled a sprained left ankle for several days. Marion aggravated his right groin Saturday in Miami’s loss to New Orleans. Harris hasn’t played since scoring a career-best 38 points against the Detroit Pistons on Friday.
The Pistons will begin their West Coast road trip without guard Rodney Stuckey, who experienced symptoms of lightheadedness and dizziness in Sunday night’s loss to Boston. The Pistons say Stuckey remained in Detroit for testing and is listed as day to day. Stuckey squatted with discomfort in the second quarter, then stood with his hands on his knees.
