Pacers use defense to beat Nets 98-80 (AP)

Danny Granger scored 23 points to lead the Indiana Pacers to a 98-80 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Saturday night. Granger shot just 6-for-17 from the field, but made 10 of 12 free throws for the Pacers (2-3). He entered the game as the NBA’s No. 2 scorer. Indiana guard T.J. Ford nearly had a triple-double, but settled for 13 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

Bulls G Hinrich out up to 3 months (AP)

Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich needs surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb and will miss up to three months. The injury occurred during Chicago’s 100-83 victory over Phoenix on Friday. Hinrich, making his first start, was injured in the third quarter and left the game with five points, five assists and five steals.

Nets G Harris out with sprained ankle (AP)

New Jersey Nets guard Devin Harris was held out of Saturday night’s game against the Indiana Pacers with a sprained left ankle. Harris scored a career-high 38 points in New Jersey’s win over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night. He ranks second on the team with 18.8 points per game. Indiana was missing guard/forward Mike Dunleavy (sore right knee) and center Rasho Nesterovic (sprained right ankle).
